wishlist - easy way to close a tab

on a redhat 7.2 system

I would like an easy way to close a single tab in the tab-page mode UI. I suggest an X filled checkbox after the filename on each tab.  Click the checkbox, and the tab closes.  See Galeon's (a web browser) tab feature for a working example of what I mean.
