I'm not sure they were installed by default, but you can find (binary) zlib
packages on disk one of Mandrake 8. I went to /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS and
did a ls *zlib* and got

zlib1-1.1.3-15mdk.i586.rpm and
zlib1-devel-1.1.3-15mdk.i586.rpm

Subject: Where do I find zlib

Hi

I have just tried to follow the description published at www.kdevelop.org of

how to download and compile kdevelop2.

But during configure I got the message that I need libz in order to compile!

I found a zlib-1.1.3-5.LS1.src.rpm but it cannot compile because it says it
requires zlib -now I'm confused. Could someone please help me to find a
zlib.rpm and zlib-devel.rpm

Thank you in advance

Hans J Micheelsen

PS: I run Mandrake 8.0 (apparently they do not distribute zlib with mdk8)
