My contribution to this debate:

People who want to reinvent the weehl are free to do that. What about imlementing your own compiler?!
I think there are people who do not  have enough time for such activities and they are happy to find well
tested and professionally implemented librarys like Qt or Lapack (Linear algebra Package). I am not
willing to reimplement a mathematical SuperLib like Lapack. This is the job of mathmaticians. I prefer
concentrating on my main task.
