You probably mean KDevelop-2 aka. KDevelop-1.4cvs? 
The most significant change will probably be that it has an MDI
(multiple document interface). This is very nice if you are used to a
program from out dear friends in Redmond. 

Hopefully, there will be improvements in overall stability, flexibility
and internal changes. 

I also believe that the documentation is going to be updated, there
will be new and improved application templates and many minor
improvements. 

I would consider the current cvs version as relatively stable now,
although it still has some edges in terms of usability. 

It has been said, that this would be the last KDevelop based on the
original code base. Personally, I think that the last word about this
has not been spoken yet.
