Using VIM as the text editor in KDevelop

No...it's a great idea! :)

There was discussion about it before...I think it was pre v1.0 KDevelop.  
However, I don't think it went anywhere, because the developers seemed to 
indicate it would be too difficult to implement a vi mode, because of the 
command mode, and atm, afaik, they dont' have any hooks for external editors, 
and code sync.

For an example of how a scenario like this might work, take a look at 
Codewright's MSDev synchronization.  It's kinda crazy.  However, vim works 
fine with MSDev studio without the need for a sync tool, using the visvim 
plugin.  I don't think you can use plugins with KDevelop yet, though.

You could always add your own feature, and submit the patch for it to the 
project, however.
