linking to static libraries

hello,
i'm new to linux programming, kde programming and kdevelop.  i have a pretty 
simple question.  i want to link to a static library, so i went to 
project->options->linker options and put -liodbc in "additional libraries".  
my question is how do i tell kdevelop where to find libiodbc.a?  in the 
output window, i see it giving g++ -liodbc, but it can't find it because its 
not giving it the -L option.  how do i set this?
