thanks for your help, still it doesn't work:

$export CVSROOT=cvs.kde.org

$cvs -z6 co -rKDEVELOP_1_0 kdevelop

gives me:

cvs  [checkout aborted]: CVSROOT cvs.kde.org must be an absolute
pathname

$cvs --version
Concurrent Verssions System (CVS) 1.10.2 (client/server)

What do I miss?
