This is normally set automatically. But in case it isn´t,

export KDEDIR=/opt/kde
export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt

I hope you didn´t try KDE2/Qt2 apps which is more complicated or you
just forgot to install any headers. What exactly is the error message on
configure ?
