No, there aren't any release dates for the KDevelop2 release. Not even the
features are determined for this release. But Iin my opinion we all have one
vision. It should be very modular and extendable through plugins, so you can
use it as a lightweight texteditor or a as full featured IDE for C++ for any
other language.:-)  There is much to do (I think we will rewrite 80-90% of
KDevelop1 from scratch) but I hope that we will have a "technology preview" in
some months. 
After this everybody, who want, can write plugins and extend this program. And
believe me there many really interesting tasks.:-) Embedded systems, application
server support (php,python,java), UML, databases or KDE2 just to name some of
them.
