quick question

I am curius as to what something does.

    I wish to replace the standard square button with a image.  One
image for when the button is up and one for when it is down.  Not place
a image ontop of the button, but replace the accuall button itself.
(ex: like winamp does) Now I know that there is a a MaskBitMap thingy,
but am unsure as to how it works.  Would someone be able to explain to
me if this is the way that I want to go or is there another route that I
want to go?
