Just my 0.02 Euro: I think this project has only marginally
something to do with KDevelop. The problem with htDig is
currently that it works only via http. While it would 
certainly be possible to write an indexing engine wrapper for
the local disk via http, it's probably not the best one
performance-wise. If htDig could be modified such that it
also provides a glimpse-like operation mode, this would IMO
be preferable. Calling the counterparts of the 'glimpse'
and 'glimpseindex' commands from KDevelop would then be
quite trivial - I'm already planning to make some more things
configurable. Of course, such a solution would have to be
negotiated with the htDig maintainers.

In any case, full text search is perhaps something the
KHelpCenter guys would be interested in. AFAIK, KHelpCenter
currently only supports search via grep. If it could be
extended to support full text search via htDig, everybody
would profit from that.
