I agree. It should not take the focus or require the mouse to select
the member.
However if you want to scroll members your arrow keys should work. And
to have it finish your syntax by hitting tab.
It can go both ways depending on the implementation. If it makes you
use the mouse, or steals the focus it could actually be a drain on
development. Of course if it is done the other way it could be a big it
could seriously increase your productivity.
But it should give you the ability to disable it.
