compiling kdevelop fails

Hello,
i am getting very confused, now.

I am trying to compile kdevelop-0.4 now a few days. But i got a lot of
undefinded references like png_ * in libkimgio.so by linking the whole packet.

configure checks for libpng, but it did not found it, but it is still installed
under /uxr/X11R6/lib and /usr/lib. The headerfiles are present,too.

I am using here SuSE 6.0 with 2.2.9, KDE 1.1.1 and QT 1.44.
I tried to compile KDE and qt by my self, a hint from Sandy, but the errors are
going on. 

What can i do to create kdevelop ?
Is another SuSE user out there ?
