hi there naughty devels, I'd appreciate help
becuse I've spent days on this (no more hair) :

I've successfully compiled & installed 1.0beta1 on my RH 5.2.
(at least this went well ..)

I downloaded kdelibs-1.1.tar.gz into /opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop and
gunzipped and untarred it there, creating
/opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop/kdelibs-1.1.

Then I ran kdevelop --setup and all went
well (all the progies - sgml, kdoc etc. were identified).
I pointed the install program to the above dir where
asked for "the new KDE libs source path".
then I choose installation mode "leave current documentation
untouched, and install to new documentation path".
Then I specified "/opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop/KDE-Documentation/"
as the new documentation path.

BEFORE pressing ok :
------------------
[root at localhost] /opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop>pwd
/opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop
[root at localhost] /opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop>vdir

drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 Aug 7 04:37 tools

AFTER pressing ok (creating KDE Documentation ...):
-----------------
[root at localhost] /opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop>pwd
/opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop
[root at localhost] /opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop>vdir

[root at localhost] /opt/kde/share/apps/kdevelop/KDE-Documentation/kdoc-reference>vdir

in short, all that has happened was creating 2 empty directories.

after that, I mooved to the "Crearing Search Database" phase.
when I pressed ok on the deafualt settings (Index size=tiny,
index options=index KDE and Qt, no additional dirs to index)
I get an error saying "The KDE-Documentation-Path isn't set correctly.".
HHHAAA ?

bottom line :
(1) how can I fix it ?
(2) is this caused by the kdoc program ?
(3) why not put all the little programs KDevelop needs +
KDevelop itself in one tarball ? It took me forever to gather
all that stuff.
(4) are www.kdevelop.org and developer.kde.org always in such
a mess ?
(5) you (whoever you are) should emphesize more that you're doing today
that KDevelop needs qt-1.42 and kdelibs-1.1.x, because
the instinct is to look for the newest stuff - like qt 2.0.1
which I compiled and installed needlessly on my machine.

would appreciate any response (anybody got this far ?)
thanks allot
gal.
