Ubuntu 18.04 LTS has 5.9
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS has 5.12
Debian stable [buster] has 5.11
OpenSUSE Leap 15.1 has 5.9
OpenSUSE Leap 15.2 has 5.12

So, 5.9 at least should be fine, and we could go to 5.11 while still supporting 
the current version of all distros.
