I'm optimising the number of files used for a feature, not performance of that feature. If absence of noticeable differences under normal use I will prefer the approach that requires the least files, and I think that's something I shouldn't have to explain or defend.
As I said before, I'll put the patch on phab once I'm done, to be profiled or ignored or whatever.
