Maybe not directly, but after setting it appropriately the kdevplatform QML files also end up in the right place: KDE_INSTALL_QMLDIR gets set to QML_INSTALL_DIR somewhere.

Fortunately I'd say, because even KDeclarative cannot seem to decide which variable to use ...
