Hey Akshay!

What Aleix said is the generic way to get started. Looking at the bug you'll 
have to look at kdevplatform/sublime and find the code for split views there. 
Then once you have that find a way to add a shortcut by looking at how 
existing shortcuts are done. See sublime/mainwindow_p.cpp for starters.
