No, definitely nothing like that.

I did some more testing and it seems that disabling "Override Kate
Indentation Mode" helps. However, once enabled, with Artistic Style
formatter set to, say, "Horstmann" (which uses tabs), or something
custom with Tabs, the editor starts using spaces again.
Keep in mind that KDevelop needs to be restarted for this bug to
appear.
