Yes wonderful, let's start rewriting stuff instead of fixing once again.

You still haven't properly explained what's so evil about temporarily
switching the area while changing the working-set. That way, the
switching completely relies on _existing_ infrastructure, instead of
having to create additional code-paths. If the architecture cannot
deal with the switching, then the architecture has to be fixed.

And even _if_ the switching is evil, it can be avoided without rewrites.
