Missing toolbar buttons

Now what needs to be done to finally see the area switchers again? It's slowly 
getting annoying not being able to switch it, and deleting some config-files 
is just a workaround. Actually I think this must be fixed before the beta 
tagging, because all users who already tried the last beta, will not be able 
to switch the area!
