You both have missed that actually Nuno's request was to _not_ rotate
the text and I tried to explain to him why horizontal text takes too
much space. As the toolviews also have a normal title, removing the text
completely was a possible option of having no rotated text, but still
saving the space.

I do however agree that we're having even more empty space with that,
though at least here I have usually both left and bottom toolview open.

With good icons thats not so much a problem, Nuno claimed that the
filesystem one wouldn't need a label at all as thats something that
people are used to.

That is indeed a problem, I've actually had one state during creation of
the text, where there were only icons, but the buttons were as large as
the text would need it. But of course that makes the whole thing look
really strange due to the empty space between icons.
