I haven't looked at this code (would be nice if someone could steer me 
in the right direction) so I don't have an informed opinion, but might 
this be a candidate for KColorUtils?

Oh, and, regardless of if it joins KColorUtils or becomes a separate 
class, please use kdelibs/kdeui/colors if it ends up in kdeui :-).
