Aside from looking ugly :-), some users (so I am told, anyway) simply 
cannot read dark-on-light.

I was recently amused by issuing 'rm -rf $KDEDIR'... from Konsole, while 
in a KDE session. And nothing bad happened whatsoever. Try THAT on 
Windows :-D.
