[Bug 116567] grep frontend should suppress errors, allow user-defined exclusions [Patch]

I am re-posting here because I don't see the comments getting CC'd here 
(why not, btw?), so I can't tell if anyone has even seen that I 
re-opened this.

First off, I really appreciate getting the patch in! But, there is a 
little clean-up that needs to be addressed before it can be closed for 
good. I had originally written the patch to remove the (now-redundant) 
'exclude VCS dirs' check box, but for whatever reason, what actually got 
checked in caused KDevelop to not persist this value, but left the check 
box and other supporting code in place.

Please see the bug comments for a rationale why I believe this should 
supersede (and therefore remove) the 'exclude VCS dirs' option, as well 
as patches to fix the problem either way. *ONE* of these patches needs 
to be applied to resolve the problem introduced by my first patch as it 
was applied.

Also, is anyone noting my assertion that this should also resolve
