Sincerely I have no idea how it works. :-( Since some version KMail 
confuses me with reply handling, but it is said that the current one is 
the correct behavior. But I think you can enable that a folder holds a 
mailing list (Folder menu), and than it will work correctly. Now 
(without using the Mailing List setting) replying to your mail replies 
to "kdevelop-devel at barney.cs.uni-potsdam.de", I have mail in 
kde-core-devel where replying goes to "kde-core-devel at kde.org" and 
mails there where replying goes to the author. :-0
You may try to use L (Reply to List), but I think you have to set up 
correctly the folder and let KMail know it holds a mailing list.
 In non-KMail clients I don't know what you can do, but I heard GMail is 
also replying to the author. I *think* the problem is that in the past 
mailing list servers mangled the Reply-To field and changed to the 
mailing list address, but this is forbidden by some RFC and now it is 
not done anymore (yet the clients are using Reply-To).
