Let's say that I do a "Search in Files".  Now let's focus on the Grep pane. 

If one clicks on the little rectangular area in the lower right corner where the horizontal and vertical scrollbars in meet it turns out that is selects (the out of view) Grep result in the Grep pane. You can verify that by scrolling down the pane after such a click.
