Actually, these are two different aspects of the same bug. It's actually not a 
bug in KDevelop, but in the KUIViewer part that is part of kdesdk.

In short: it's nothing exotic and it's fixed. :)

It will be correct in the soon to be released KDE-3.2.1. And in the KDevelop 
release that comes with it (3.0.2) we will now honor the user setting for .ui 
files and really do open them in Qt-designer if that is what the user prefers 
(most would).

As mentioned in one of the bugreports, to restore the KDevelop GUI:

Close KDevelop. 
Open your kdeveloprc file (typically: ~/.kde/share/config/kdeveloprc) and 
remove "Style=Checked" from it. 
Restart KDevelop.
