problems making a patch (it's me again!)

Hi guys, it's me again with my newbie questions!

I have made a few mods to the appwizard and now I want to create a patch file 
and post it to the list.  Are this commands correct:

# cd $KDEVELOP_SRC/parts/appwizard
# cvs diff > patchfile

Is it correct to run the diff from the appwizard sub-directory?
Does "cvs diff" by default use the correct diff format?  

Please, if I am asking stupid questions please refer me to a newbie guide or 
something - I have tried to do research but there is sooo much to learn, my 
head hurts :)
