Yes, Amilcar is mistaken. The only changes to KMDI I made was for controlling 
the visibility of the tabwidget in the tabbed UI modes. The settings dialog 
for text and/or icons is only for IDEAl mode, as you point out.

As for KMDI, I'd be surprised if anyone objected to you working on it. I know 
it needs it.. ;)
