There's a part of the code that tries to access an (at least in some 
configurations) non-existing function, and you call that not a bug?
Considering that in another programming language, this might actually be a 
runtime error, it's kind of a stretch to call it "not a bug".

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If you want it to be that way, 
you have to tell people about it.

BTW, qstring.h has the following to say:
#ifndef QT_NO_CAST_ASCII
    // like all ifdef'd code this is undocumented

So maybe it's time to just add an ".ascii()" to the offending code and let 
it rest in peace.
