(X)Emacs style 'hard' indentation?

KDevelop (>= 3.0) uses embedded text editors from the KDE system, like Kate 
and QEditor.  To get this functionality, you'd need to either create this as 
a Kate plugin, or create an XEmacs type editor interface for KDE to use in 
KDevelop.  I don't know what the status of emacs type editors is for KDE, but 
I'll venture to say something exists already...
