i think Harald is well knowing of what he's talking. (Don't want to continue 
any flames).

KDE has it's own way of creating menus and toolbars. Have a look at the 
class-documentation for KXMLGUIClient. Look at existing examples.

With a XML GUI one can not only change the GUI "on the fly", but you can merge 
multiple "parts" together into one UI. No need to recompile anything.
