Without having worked with it, it's hard to know what "feels right", but 
intuitively I'd say the same behaviour as with a widget tooltip is best. That 
is, the timer doesn't start over unless the mouse leaves the hinted line. 

Maybe some way of specifying range within the line is preferable, but as long 
as the time restarts when the mouse leaves the line I can't see it really 
being a problem.
