Version:           CVS (using KDE Devel)
Installed from:    Compiled sources

Set KDevelop to Ideal mode
Setting/Configure KDevelop
Click on UI tab - don't change anything
Click on general tab - don't change anything
Click OK

Your UI mode will change to child frame.

But if you look in Setting/Configure KDevelop it still says you are in ideal mode.
