Your patch isn't ideal, as returning the original path in case of a file name 
won't work if the file itself (not a directory) is a symlink. I've committed 
a copy of the actual QT 3.1.2+ code to lib/tools/urlutil, and have prepared a 
change to all gideon code (not just cppsupport) to use this which can commit
