kdevelop build system

Hello,

   I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but...
I need to add a check to the configure system of a kdevelop project to check 
for the location of a particular file and set a #DEFINE in the config.h w/ 
the location. Where should I look to add it? I'm not really familiar with 
autoconf and a kdevelop project's way of generating a configure script seems 
pretty complicated. Where do I start?
