And so I've reset the version number to 2.1RC2... I'd already change it 
to 2.1 to be sure, that this won't be forgotten (already mailed to Dirk).

I also took the chance to introduce the -ftemplate-depth-99 flag so the 
build system should be ready for gcc 3.x.
(new file configure.in.mid == make -f Makefile.cvs)
