Qlabel is invisible...why?

Thanks Sandy.  I will try using QMainWindows and QDialog instead.
One thing, I am learning QT through the 'QT Programming in 24Hours' by SAMS 
book.  It states to use setMainWidget throughout the entire book.  When would 
this be a better choice?  Is setMainWidget outdated or is it only for simple 
applications?
