I am another guy who has proplems creating new project using

Below are the reports from the two platforms I am using and I am very
curious about the state of the problem.

1. Platform: ix86, SuSE-8.0, KDE-3.0.2, KDevelop-2.1.2, autoconf-2.53,
automake-1.6.3, gcc-2.95.3
KDE and KDevelop are updated by SuSE autoupdate

Project can not be done within the KDevelop due to the well known crash
at the automake/autoconf phase, but when executing the
KDevelop-suggested gmake-command line the projects creates well.
Afterwards the configure and build go smoothly.

2. Platform: ix86, SuSE-7.0, KDE-3.0.3, KDevelop-2.1.3, autoconf-2.53,
automake-1.6.3, gcc-2.95.2
KDE and KDevelop are updated by rpms downloaded from the SuSE ftp site.

When using old autoconf-2.13 and automake-1.4, KDevelop reports that the
autoconf-2.52/53 is needed.

So I installed new ones and got the message:

 > gmake -j1 -f /home/iztokk/c/testGDB/testaa/Makefile.dist
