Yes,
I agree, Christophs proposal sounds quite useful. I have on additional
suggestion.Christoph, as you go and unify the interfaces, I will try to
use them right away for the kate part of KDevelop-2. This way we can
immdiately find out what's missing. E.g. I added quite a few things to
the Kate::Doc and Kate::View interfaces.
Also to be coherent with the older stuff I suggest to name the third
part of the interface to Kate::Text.
Finally, someone recently talked about scintilla. I still think using
scintilla would be a great idea. Is it possible to use scintilla for
Kate::Text?
