This type of functionality is available in the viewers. 

I'm being a bit mean in closing this, as the suggestion of getting to the hex 
view using a popup on the variable name is a good one, but I don't think I 
can use khexedit to display the data. I'll keep the popup idea in mind 
though. The "viewers" could definately do with a bit of "freshening up" :-)

kdevelop does a great job showing variables in watchlist, except when memory-regions are concerned.
