Just want to draw your attention to Scintilla (www.scintilla.org). 
It has lex-based syntax highlighting support, folding, calltips 
and autocompletion. Ok, it has the serious problem that it isn't
XEmacs ;-) But then it's mostly platform-independent C++ code and
a Qt-based drawing & event layer can certainly be added.
