change logs

Apparently the change logs in either branch are not
very well maintained. I don't care whether we make
change logs or not, but in any case we should either
do it consequently or not at all.

If we decide against it, we could still display
a change log on a web page generated by cvs2cl.pl
so one knows what is happening...

So opinions are welcome :-)
