Looks like a bug (regression) in KMail introduced with the fix for
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442884.

I think the fix doesn't check whether the server actually supports the 
"Delivery Status Notification" SMTP service extension.

One could also argue that a decent mail server should support DSN by now (the 
standard was published in 2003). Still, KMail should always check what the 
server it talks to supports.
