what does `ps -axlww | fgrep -i mysql` tell you?

And

doesn't show you a file with all zeroes I hope?

Heh, looking at this on my end showed me I have 2 log files, ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1 of equal size, more than 3x that of ibdata1 itself.
Talk about redundancy!!
