[kdepim-users] How do i "rebuild" a *working* akonadi configuration?

not sure, but i think, not really :)
however, you are right with complains about things beeing scattered all over 
the place, multiple agents/daemons running producing binary blobs which can't 
be inspected, no real and up-to-date user advice available about how/where to 
fix things in case of breakage, so sort of situation like in windoze, where 
things are hidden from the users by intention...
so, well, in your case, I would recommend to first create a new dummy-user 
account and configure the pim-stuff (email accounts..) with the data from the 
real user in question, just to be sure that works, and your installation is 
not broken itself.
in case this works, just copy the data from original user account over to the 
new user and rename that one.
