Please note that this the the mailing list to coordinate development of
KDEPIM. The user mailing list is kdepim-users at kde.org.

I answer as a user to save devs some time. I suggest continuing this on the
users mailing list (CC added).

I suggest to you to use MySQL as it has been more widely tested. PostgreSQL
may work as well, but use Akonadi 1.10.3 and up with it. Still best tested is
MySQL. I do not know the state of the SQLite backend, there have been time
were I read recommendations against using it.

There have been various reports about such an behavior, which may be
dependedant on filtering issues.

I do not have it personally, but I suggest asking in kdepim-users about it.

Never heard about this one.

Whats wrong with it? Isn´t the JPEG 2,9 MiB? Kmail may show the Base64 encoded
size of it, thus somewhat larger than the original.

Do you really need to wait for something to happen in that cause or is it just
displaying this from time to time? I do not give much about the progress
reports.

Anyway, it would be nice to know which processes do some work, maybe some
state information from Akonadiconsole application. And it may help to
temporarily disable mail indexing in Systemsettings. Especially upon migration
it can take up a lot of resources. I enabled it after Akonadi has built up its
own database.

Carsten, whether you leave KMail or not is entirely your decision. I don´t
think it announcing that you might leave it will give your informal bug
reports any higher priority.

I can understand your frustration. I had quite some issues myself after
migration and still think KDEPIM and Akonadi, especially KMail related parts
of KDEPIM and Akonadi need further polishing.

I would start with providing proper bug reports at bugs.kde.org. One for each
problem you observe. But search for duplicates first.

Beware that it may take some time tough till someone tends to it. KDEPIM and
Akonadi sure could use some development help. But the quite few developers do
what they can to improve it.

What is your filtering setup?

I use KMail SC 4.10 with some base KDEPIM and KDE stuff from KDE SC 4.11 and
Akonadi 1.10 and it works quite nicely. I am still using some work-arounds
regarding filtering due to a wierd data loss issue with my CRM114 spam filter
rules I had, that I wasn´t able to reproduce last week with a test setup, but
aside from that KMail handles a rather large and several small POP3 accounts
quite fine.

Thanks,
