I wish it was... The *only* way to prevent this situation is to disable
akonadi completely (akonadictl stop) *before* the server goes offline and to
wait with "akonadictl start" until the server is back. Once the server has
gone offline with akonadi still running, there is an estimated >70% chance
that one of the inboxes of the involved accounts will no longer sync even
after going back online. The *only* way to get it to sync again in that
situation is to delete the akonadi cache for that inbox, and even that I
sometimes have to do multiple times before it will work again - see the bug
report I mentioned in my first mail
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327513). Of course, cache deletion is
*highly* undesirable, as the users looses all flags, tags, etc. :-(
Hence my interest in getting this crude workaround to work - though that will
still leave me open to "accidental"/unscheduled connection losses.
For what it's worth: It looks like this workaround really does work - if I
shut down akonadi before the server goes offline and enable it again after the
server comes up again, everything seems to stay working so far (left it
running over the weekend, with the server going offline briefly every night).

Thomas
