Unfortunately  I can not argue with you, cause I only have POP accounts.

Like I explain, my remarks are about local email message files. Those files 
were even produced my Kmail2 by imports,ex., from MailBox formats. BTW I have 
not noticed that Kmail2 can deal Kmail MailDir - a mix of MailDir and MailBox 
formats.
